Empowering socially deprived groups, especially women in rural communities of mid-west Nepal
Mahila Upakar Munch (MUM) is a non-government organization established in 1992 A.D. with the aim to empower socially deprived groups, especially women in rural communities of mid-west Nepal for improving their socio-economic condition through active participation of target group in development activities.
MUM is registered at the District Administration Office, Banke, affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC), and also member of NGO Federation Nepal and NGO Co-ordination Committee Banke. MUM has received FI license from Nepal Rastra Bank to work as the financial mediator. It has started Micro Finance Activities in Banke district.
One of the major activities of MUM is to implement various programmes in order to promote social empowerment of debt-bonded labor (Kamaiya) through micro finance, social and legal awareness, women‘s right as well as health and sanitation. Around 296 groups of 3500 members are working under this organization.
