Kohalpur is a beautiful town in mid-western Nepal.

It is one of the fast developing towns on that region. The nearest city, Nepalgunj is just 16km south of the town that borders with India.

Places to Visit

If it is in the evening, a walk in Town-planning area around NGMC hospital can be cool. Banda water dam in Chatar has long been known for small excursion. You may also cycle to NCCN area. Plant nursery in NCCN is good for some nature-walk. Chapargaudi has good restaurants if you are into those things. If you are interested in Tharu culture, do not miss out Rajhena village.

If you want to travel a bit further, on a bus, then you may want to visit Bardiya National park for jungle safari (lodges offer 2 nights/3 days package tours). Karnali bridge is popular for those who want a day picnic.

Kohalpur declared Municipality
Kohalpur has been declared municipality by the government. This will come into effect from 1st Shrawan (17 July). Kohalpur is among 41 new municipalities declared by the government.

This will mean Kohalpur Munitipality will receive more decentralized power to utilize its resources including finance. With this announcement the number of municipalities in Banke district reaches two. The other one is Nepalgunj.
